Cream Cheese Coffee Cake (not what you’d expect!)

November 13, 2009 by Kat

Cream Cheese Coffee Cake

From the Kitchen of: Cindy Franchak (Kat’s sister)

I’ve served this both for dessert as well as in the morning for a large group playdate. It’s awesome… and people will think you spent hours on it! (-Kat)

Ingredients:

2 pkgs. of crescent rolls
1 8 oz pkg. of cream cheese, softened
1 egg, separated
2/3 c of sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 Tbs. lemon juice
Powdered sugar

Grease 13 x 9 pan. Unroll one pkg. of crescent rolls, pinching perforations together, onto bottom of pan. In bowl, combine cream cheese
(can microwave to soften), egg yolk, sugar, vanilla and lemon juice. Pour over crust. Unroll second package of rolls onto wax paper and
pinch together perforations. Lay on top. Press edges of layers together at sides of pan to seal. Brush with egg white.
Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes.  Sprinkle with powdered sugar. Serve warm.

** Coffee cake is better when served warm – when using for leftovers, place piece in microwave to serve warm.

Enjoy!!
