Our favorite DANCE SCHOOL in Raleigh / Wake Forest

November 23, 2009 by

This is what I wrote for a Google “Review” of our Dance School. Check here to see what tons of others have to say about it, as well!

Although my daughter is only 6 years old, this is our 2nd year at The Dance Attic/TDA (mind you, TDA is our 3rd dance studio). I was never able to put my finger on what I didn’t like at the other studios, but I recall thinking, “If I’m going to be investing this much time and money into her dance, I want to (at least!) feel welcome at the studio when I walk in (don’t you all agree?). I never really felt that way, especially with our last studio. And, especially “if you weren’t in Dance Company”, other studios made you to feel like you were a speck of dirt on the floor. Not at the Dance Attic.

Anyway, from the MINUTE I met Ms. Wanda, the Owner, I was sold. She was sooo loving, so professional, and took time to go over all of the details with me. She got down on my daughter’s level and made her feel special, loved, and very important (and she didn’t even know if we were going to join or not). I felt as if my daughter had been dancing there for 15 years the first time we walked in the door, and we haven’t looked back. And, now that we’re “regulars” at TDA, the warmth and gratitude has only grown.

The student teachers are full of energy and very experienced. And, the minute I have a question about my daughter’s technique, or how she is acting in the class, etc., I receive a response back from Wanda within minutes, and she invites (and encourages) dialogue between the parents and teachers. Feedback and open communication are key!

This is our 2nd year at the Dance Attic, and I have been floored by the techniques the children continue to perfect, and how much the dancers not only respect each other… but how much they respect their elders, and teachers. In fact, we love it so much, my 5 year old son has decided to take Combo (tap, jazz, ballet) AND Hip-Hop. He sees how much my daughter beams when she returns home from TDA and wants a piece of the action. My husband and I would send all 4 of our kids (other 2 are younger boys) there if it were our choice — but it’s theirs … and they LOVE going!

Let me tell you, the only reason my daughter is obsessed with dance now is because of Ms. Wanda, Ms. Cory, Ms. Rachel, and all of the student teachers. She used to dread going to dance at the other studios… it was like pulling teeth, and now that’s all she wants to do. Whether you plan to spend 45 minutes a week at a dance studio, or 4-5 hours a week, it’s important to feel like you’re “part of the family”. You definitely will at TDA.
