“Dishwasher Safe”

December 3, 2009 by Dave

What is a dishwasher?  Is it a person or an appliance?  Many times I think it is both.  If you’d ask Kat, her definition would be “something that you ignore as long as possible, even when clean, so that dishes can pile up in the sink all day.”

There is NOTHING better than walking into the house after a long day at work.  You never know what to expect…there could be any (or all) of the following taking place:

  1. Mad rush to the stairs for Dad hugs (clearly my favorite)
  2. The standard “5 O’clock Somewhere Happy Hour,” with the always-expected “buzz-hugs” from the ladies (a close second and the rest of the guys cannot deny this)
  3. Kids crying (great)
  4. Kids fighting (super)
  5. Dinner on the table (again, remember that these items may or may NOT be taking place)

And – so long as ”this guy” has run the dishwasher the night before – there is always a full dishwasher and full sink waiting for me.  Phenomenal.  And the “Sooooorrrrrrrry” I get from Kat when I immediately jump into the dishes always makes it better (insert sarcasm here).

I’m heading out on a 3-day business trip next week.  I can only imagine what will be waiting for me in the kitchen Friday afternoon after 3 days of neglect…

Love it!!! You should note that numbers 2,3, and 4 almost always occur simultaneously (you may even need to add “kids screaming” in there somewhere!)

Totally guilty of letting my husband do dishes. But I do A LOT of other stuff. Fair trade. Funny though, when he’s out of town, I get OBSESSIVE about keeping the dishes done. As soon as he’s back? Yep, they’re his again.
