If you live in Raleigh, and looking for things to do w/the kids during Holiday Break

December 19, 2009 by Kat

[This is written by a friend and neighbor, Adrienne C... lemme tell you, if anyone knows the "who's who" and "what's what" in Raleigh (her taste is ridiculously expensive), it's this chick. However, the below are very affordable alternatives to keep your kids from whining, and you from drinking, while they're home for the next 2 weeks. Ooyyeee Veehhh].

Wondering what to do with the kids?  If you are not one of the lucky ones lounging on a hammock on a  sunny Carribean island -  and really, who is? Or if you have finally survived  a whirl wind car trip tour of grandparent’s houses up and down the east coast. How about spending a fun filled day in Downtown Raleigh ?  Here are some ideas:

Now that you have worked up an appetite, try some of these places to Eat:

  • Pizza is a staple of kids diets so try Lilies on Glenwood.
  • Try the Thai Chicken Wrap with Sweet Potato Fries at NoFo at the Pig.  The restaurant has a gift shop upstairs with unique finds, with candy and some kids toys to peak the little ones’ interest.
  • Hi 5 Sports Bar during the day is a great place to take kids (I know a Bar sounds like a bad idea but it really does work well). Everything on the menu is $5.00 and there are TV’s in every booth.  Ask your server to put on Nick Jr or the Disney Channel and you are set (and you and your husband can enjoy the game on the big screens).
  • For amazing cupcakes (big enough to share) and a variety of flavors try the Cupcake Shoppe on Glenwood.

With so much to choose from you are sure to enjoy a fun filled family day and will even forget how many days are left until we are all back to school work and the daily grind.  Enjoy !
