Never Say Never: “I’ve never read a blog, I never will”

January 11, 2010 by

Famous last words of one unnamed brother. Welp, I proved him wrong. He just couldn’t resist.

When I told my family I was starting a blog with hubby, 80% of them said, “What’s a blog?”, the other 16% said “Why the hell would you do that with everything else you have going on?”, and other other 4% said, “I refuse to read blogs; I never have read them, and I never will”. One would hypothesize that if one refused to read a blog, naturally that same person would clearly never comment on one, right?

I think it must have been my luring signature on my personal emails that did it… temptation got the best of him, and he just HAD to click the “Check out Today’s Cliche here” (just like how on these 2 blogs its says something like “Mom and Dad stop reading here“, they just had to read (shame on you!), or where Dave wrote something about “in laws may want to stop reading here“. Lemme guess how many of them didn’t). Zilch.

Anyway, I’m just sayin, never say never. ESPECIALLY when it comes to Social Media. Hubby said, “Mark my words, I will NEVER have a Facebook account; never.” Well, look-ey here.

Back to the brother who said, “I’ll never read a blog… well, look-ey here, he comment three (3) times on different posts within She Said. LOVE HIM for CAVING IN!!

Well, now that you’re reading this blog, you’re clearly “so two-thousand-and-nine”. However, I don’t think you realize how important it is that my favorite followers actually COMMENT on my and D’s blog postings.
Please read here.

  • It can just be a one-liner comment (i.e. “I can totally relate”, or “I’m on Kat’s side”, or “That’s crazy”… whatever!)
  • Feel free to promote your company (add the URL to your company’s site), but promote yourself  if you’re out of work (attach an HTML resume), or if you’re a stay at home parent and want to connect with like-minded efriends: (add your Twitter profile, Facebook profile, blog, website, etc.).

Don’t you want to see me on The Today Show in <5 years (my goal); you say:
“I know her!! I used to read her stuff when she was just starting out!!”

For those of you who know me, you can SO picture me, chatting it away with Matt Lauer (love him, by the way) on air.

Any and ALL COMMENTS AT ANY TIME ARE SOOO GREATLY appreciated! You have NO idea.  Comments will make or break the success of Today’s Cliche. Believe me, I will return the favor. No worries there!

  1. Good job on getting your brother to read AND comment!

I love it when people say they would never blog, then get hooked like the rest of us…

Haha, you cracked me up. My mom said the exact same thing– “Why on earth would you want to write a blog?”– when I told her I’d started mine. She thought it was the surest way to get myself fired from work; she has this crazy idea that you should NEVER write anything down if it could you in trouble. Well, even though she still hasn’t read my blog (I don’t give the link to family or friends!), at least she understands WHAT it is and WHY I do it!

I don’t usually read blogs either, but yours is hysterical and TOTALLY relate-able! LOVE it! I can absolutely 100% picture you on the TODAY show, and then they will probably hire you as an on-air correspondent because they’ll love you and your boundless energy:)

    That’s so funny!

I remember seeing a baby onesie that said “My mommy is blogging this.” And I rolled my eyes, thinking blogs are silly…but now I’m addicted!

    Stopping by from SITS.

Hey- you should have your email enabled on your profile so I could talk back at ya!

Yes, I started my blog without any friends or family knowing about it. I started a family blog and as soon as I started putting anything more than pics and cute stories on it, I got a lot of flak, so I started one that is just for me to run my mouth. I don’t know any of my readers irl. Love it.

  7. I have been in the camp of “oh I’ll never (insert social media)” before…and learned my lesson. I think curiosity can get the best of us, and so you can swear you won’t do something…then it becomes alluring because you just cut yourself off from checking it out. LOL
