He Said: “As Luck Would Have It, Part II”
Wow. I guess it could always be worse, but I’m not sure how much worse it could have gotten this past weekend. After checking into the emergency clinic on Thursday night, the aches and fever of my flu transitioned into the vomiting and ‘other stuff’ of a virus through the weekend. Lucky me.
We did make it out in the snow on Saturday, which was great for the kids (me included). Too bad it takes 45 minutes to get 4 kids bundled up and ready for snow, only to be outside for 15 minutes! One had cold hands, the other fell face-first into the snow and lost his mind and the 3rd and 4th were already screaming for hot chocolate.
Kat’s explanation of Saturday night was spot-on. Every 30 minutes either my daughter or I was up doing the deed. It was unenjoyable to say the least. But she woke up Sunday and was ready to go – doing cartwheels and flips as she normally does. As for me, not so much. It took me a while to get going. I’m not sure who was more excited to see Kat walk through the door – me or the kids.
One item of note. Sunday evening, around 5:30. I’m on the couch – still in my PJs, still struggling, barely awake, with nothing more than 4 pieces of toast in my stomach since the day before. One of the girls on the trip was nice enough to call to check in on me. Kat’s response was “oh, he’s totally fine.” TOTALLY FINE!?!?! Did you see me? Did really listen to my story from the night before? It’s funny how perception and reality can be so far apart, even when a couple seems to be on the same page…
