He Said: “The Road Warrior”

February 12, 2010 by

3 nights on the road and heading back home today – land at 11 am, a few hours in the office then off to the house to see the wife & kids.  I hate being away – it feels like everyone grew 5 inches while I was gone, even if it’s just for a day or so!

Here’s to hoping that Kat doesn’t also have a “skewed” view of business travel.  Was I hanging in a hottub each day and closing bars each night, or was I stressed out and working until midnight?  I may be exaggerating both sides of the spectrum, but my trip was definitely no walk in the park.

Will Kat do the “handoff” tonight, as if I was on vacation for a week and I “deserve” to do all of the bedtime chores?  Will there be a huge pile of laundry and/or dishes in the sink?  Am I digging myself a huge hole by even writing this post?

(I missed you, babe…)

Don’t worry! You know how it is!!! Even thought you work at a company that all about beer doesn’t mean you drink all day and even on business! If you have a drink or two when closing a bar or with clients it should be fine. Remember when someone does work after hours on there computer or talking on the phone and has a few glasses of wine, does that mean that there out partying? NO! It means that they are relaxing doing there work, might it be at home, in a bar or a restaurant. What ever the case, I wouldn’t sweet it. From what I read there are a lot more girls weekends then business trips I think. LOL
As far as handing off the kids, well can’t help you there, but as the father you are I’m sure you don’t mind that.
As far as the dishes. What we do is, you use it, then rise in sink and put in dishwasher. No dishes in sink. As far as putting the clean dishes away? When I do it I try to get the kids to help, so it goes faster and its more fun!!! Plus when they start to get good at it, that will be one of there chores.

Nice that you missed the family. My Dad would go on business trips when we were kids. It was almost the same as when he was home, just no one yelling. I always like reading about family men who value their family. 🙂
