This One Time, at Boot Camp…

March 9, 2010 by Kat

Other women on Sarah’s (love her!) In the Trenches of Motherhood’s site linked up and did a fabulous job recapping Bloggy Boot Camp; I’m not going to double dip (and potentially bore/scare away those who could give a flippin’ fly about this-loser’ish-thing-they-call-blogging-however-THEY-THEMSELVES-STILL-check-others’-blogs-religiously-and-can’t-stop-because-they-want-to-escape-their-everyday-monotony-and-sometimes-get-filled-up-with-thought-provoking-content-that-is-often-insightful-but-sometimes-trashy).

So, I thought a quick, painless, sticky-note recap was in order. Before I proceed, though… I thought it prudent to sum up in words how Daune from The Grasshoppa (triplets, plus 2 other kids!) summed up the lecture part of Bloggy Boot Camp:
“..And I don’t just mean by toasting to the start of the day with plastic sippy cups full of Mimosas, sharing light up blinkity blink rings, texting and tweeting snarky messages during lectures, wearing feather masks and assuming the role of American Idol judges at the back table. You know, in general, just acting like dweebs.”

Warning: If you don’t give a HOOT about Blogging, I give you permission to close this post and go on to something more exciting within Today’s Cliche. Possibly you should check out some past “Popular Posts”, on the right hand side: —————————————->

I need to first commemorate those influential women who really made the conference beyond inspiring. To say I’m in love with them is an understatement: Tiffany from The Secret is in the Sauce, Kathy from Mama Kat’s Losin It, Julie from Scary Mommy, Sarah from In the Trenches of Motherhood, and Tara from Feels Like Home (working on the links to their sites right now!).

I met so many women that day, that I can’t sum into one post all of their names. Plus, I don’t have pictures to prove it; except for one.  Here’s a pic of some of me and my most favorite bloggers who I want to (and very well may, in April!) have a sleepover with!

Me, Shell from Things I Can’t Say, Mary from Mommyologist, and Kiran from Masala Chica! Sadly, my blogging BFF Mandy from Random Thoughts couldn’t be there, but I filled her in, as we chatted for 3 hours on my drive home!

Awww, Kat. Where to start? How about with how insanely jealous I am that you got to meet everyone–and THEY got to meet YOU– and I didn’t! Next time.

You’re adorable…and about that “I’m not fashionable” facade you’re puttin’ up…yeah, whatev. I’ve seen enough pictures to know that you ARE! =)

  10. I walked into Bootcamp knowing a very small number of people and I felt like I walked away knowing so many great ladies and so wanting to get to know people better. It was awesome.

Loved your recap and so so glad I went!
Are you going to Philly? I signed up!

ps You asked about how I write on my photos? I use Picnik to edit and frame my photos and the “border frame” has an option for “caption height”. I just use that and then use the text on there. (I paid for premium and LOVE it)
