He Said: If I Could Rewind the Blog…

April 29, 2010 by Dave

Talk about a shortcut!  Mama Kat asks for a list of 5 things, and “My Kat” gives one.  SO typical of her!  Yes, her one item is a huge one – if we were “anonymous” in our blogging, then I could talk about so-and-so’s boob job without getting in trouble.  Or, the fact that such-and-such’s kids need an attitude adjustment.  Or, that I wonder how whats-his-name can afford that new car of his.  Our content would be SO much easier – and a lot more entertaining.  Oh well – live and learn.  But here goes my list of

5 things I would do different if I started blogging today:

  1. My initial, smart-aleck answer would be “nothing” – my wife makes me blog. Seriously, this site is her baby and I’m doing what I can  to contribute decent, hopefully halfway-entertaining content.  With my regular responsibilities at work and completing everything that SHE doesn’t do at home, I don’t have much time for creativity.  But I do what I can.

  2. Add more sports content. I’m a sports nut.  If I’m home and the TV is mine, the first thing I look for are the night’s games.  NHL, NBA, MLB, NFL…it doesn’t matter.  Looking back, I should have steered my career to sports somehow.  I guess sports is my 2nd biggest craving  (Kat knows my first)…

  3. Bring on the boys! I’m an idiot.  Why don’t I take my wife’s lead?  Set up a few guys’ nights out, tell her it’s for the good of the site, go out and have a blast, and the following day blog about the items that I can share with the general public.  Kat does this all the time with her “play dates,” bunco and grub club.  One of which is tonight!  I think I’m onto something here.
    • Question – If we’re hitting the town for the sole purpose of gaining content for the site (not to mention the fact that my circle of friends here is top-notch), could the dinner & drinks (and my poker losses) be considered a tax write-off?  Hmm….

  4. Do your homework.

  5. Do 2, 3 and 4 above! This was actually a great exercise to gather new methods of content.  There’s no reason I can’t fit these into my posts.  Except for the fact that I’ll bore the bejesus out of women with my Steeler references.  But it’s worth a shot.  We’ll see how it goes…

  1. I love the “hitting the town to gain content”!! lol!! Too funny! If my hubby had his way, there’d be more Scotch and cigar posts! I think he’d be happy to do that research and take one for the team!

I love this post. You cracked me up. No. 1 is my fav! Lol. I made my hubby write a story for my Vegas Week blog addition. Also, maybe you should add a sports page for the dudes and you’re wife could offer her perspective once in awhile. Just a thought. Keep on bloggin!

Ashley – we actually DID do that… but it seemed no one was reading it… however, thanks for the REMINDER. Definitely a great idea to reconsider! Thanks for taking the time to type out a suggestion!
