He Said: Part 1 ~ “Luck is What Happens When Preparation Meets Opportunity.” – Seneca

July 1, 2010 by

The snapshot to the left is a picture-perfect image of Kat when she realized that she lost her application.  Except for the fact that it was 8:30 at night, and she was still in her PJ’s from the night before…and she was crying not yelling…and she has a Mac…and she’s not a blond.

Kat’s trip to the ATL is a prime example that, unfortunately, cliches don’t hold true in each and every instance.  Could she have prepared a little earlier?  Probably.  Could she have packed the night before instead of same-day?  Absolutely.  Should she have printed the application sooner than just heading to the interview?  Maybe.  But I’m sure that she couldn’t have spent more time preparing herself for her presentation than she did.  So who am I to second-guess her?

I knew she was in trouble when I received a text at 1:50 AM on Friday night (when, after a guys’ night out in Pittsburgh, there was a negative-5000% chance I would have heard it), and another one at 6:30 Sunday morning, stating “Don’t call me – I’m just going to bed.”

Here are some questions that I have after our weekends away:

  • HER Weekend: You can obviously flirt without being charming – we’ve all met plenty of those folks.  HOWEVER, can you be charming without flirting?  I think you see where this question is going, if you read the wifey’s post.  Not sure if I should be mad, throw up, or just let it drop.
  • HIS Weekend: Why do 20-something guys always decide that smacking each other in the stomach – or some other form of violence/wrestling – is the best way to end a 12-hour drinking binge, also known as a “family wedding?”
  • FUTURE Weekends: I’m looking for some creative ways to get a Primanti’s sandwich delivered to the Triangle. Any ideas?  I didn’t realize how much I missed that place!!

I didn’t know that you were from Pittsburgh! Not that I know you- I did meet Kat in Baltimore, though. I live in coastal Carolina now, but am from the ‘burgh. Oh, how I want one of those sandwiches!!!

Oh Dave, even before you’d said the name, I recognized that sandwich picture anywhere! My Mom totally smuggles them down in her suitcase when shw flies down here. I don’t know whether to say that I can’t believe this story, or that I can?? What a punch in the gut.
