She Said: “Rounding the Corner”

November 11, 2010 by

So, we’re 1/2 way through the self-promotion annoyances. Apologies. We’re getting increasingly comfortable in front of the camera (a few glasses of wine doesn’t hurt), and getting more less annoyed at each other.

Our 2nd (of 4) videos for our online cooking series, c/o Pyrexware is live today on Pyrex’s Channel on YouTube: America’s Hottest Culinary Couple:

When realizing we were going to have to shoot on Halloween, one of the crazier of the holiday weekends in our ‘hood (does jello shots at every party ring a bell?), we were a little like oh sh#t “no prob”. Sure, I we can prepare all of the food prior, and just send the kids outside to play while we’re recording. We aim for Saturday as the filming day. With all of the damn sports we over-schedule our children with, next thing we know it’s 4:30 pm and wind up spending 2 1/2 freaking hours dressing the whole family for a halloween bash. “We’ll do it tomorrow… just need to make sure we don’t overdrink, so I’m not all puffy and nauseous the next day,” I say to myself.

Sunday comes, actual Halloween Day. Next thing you know, it’s 4:30 pm AGAIN!! Weekends are like black holes in this family; pure chaos in our house… like being in a time worp — every weekend.

It’s 4:30 pm, Sunday. I have everything ready to go on the counter… hair done for the 1st time in the series (geez, did you see my rat ponytail in the first video people??), make-up on, and dressed for the camera. Dave’s giving me all this grief that we’re never going to get it filmed before the trick or treaters start ringing the damn bell. I have confidence. I can make anything happen.

After telling Dave what he is to do reviewing with Dave what we’re going to work together on… DING FREAKING DONG. Game over. We decide we’re going to HAVE TO FILM after the kids go to bed on — Halloween night, mind you. “Go to bed” and “Halloween night” is like an oxymoron. We don’t have a choice, however, as the film is due to Pyrex in like 12 hours!

Ahh, what the hell. We head out with the kids to trick or treat. You see, however, my neighborhood is synonymous with parents carrying red solo cups up and down the side walks. After we get home, next thing you know, the kids are hanging from chandeliers as we try to pin them into their beds. Sugar.Freaking.Highs.

We start filming at about 10 pm and finish up around midnight. I think we pulled it off. See, Dave? I always, somehow, make it happen.
